Three is a charm

There is this dessert that is childhood favorite of mine and it's called chocolate chip cream cheese bars. Comfort in a 13x9 pan is all I can say. A few weeks ago, I purchased all the ingredients to make them, and then I got the idea to tweak it a bit. Not necessarily make it better, just different.

Can I help it if I think I made it better? Traditionally, the recipe calls for two rolls of Pillsbury chocolate chip cookie dough. Which, in turn, sandwich the delectable cream cheese filling. I decided that I wanted to put brownie batter first, then the cream cheese filling, and finally top it off with the chocolate chip cookie layer. As you can see in the picture above, 2 layers down, 1 to go.

Just out of the oven the top layer is nicely sun-tanned, while the cream cheese layer in the middle plays peek-a-boo.

A closer look, just because....

And, finally a piece of comfort cut from the pan. If three is charm, chocolate chip, cream cheese, BROWNIE bars had me at first slice.

  1. awesome! I have seen something similar on Pinterest! We made brownie covered oreos this weekend...YUMMY! and another dessert that had brownies on the bottom, a peanut butter cheesecake with reeses pieces in the middle, topped with a layer of chocolate, and finally chopped peanut butter cups on top...it was sinful! Yours looks great!!! May have to try it soon :)
